No, SNHU does not require scores on standardized tests like the ACT, SAT, GMAT or GRE. We believe that these tests do not effectively measure a student's subject knowledge or their ability to succeed. Eliminating this requirement also means students are able to pursue a faster, more flexible pathway to their education.

Our high level of student support, no set class times and generous transfer credit policy make SNHU a great university for students with previous college credits to finish their degrees. In fact, most online students enroll at SNHU with some transfer credits.

At SNHU, you can transfer up to:

  • 90 credits toward your bachelor’s degree
  • 45 credits toward your associate degree
  • 12 credits toward your master’s degree

Two online classes per term is considered full-time at SNHU. If you want to earn your degree faster, you can maximize the number of courses you take each term. You may be surprised by how manageable two courses can be!

And with 6 undergraduate and 5 graduate term starts per year, you have the opportunity to assess and change your course load every 8 – 10 weeks.

Because SNHU is a fully accredited institution, our credits are generally accepted by all colleges and universities. Check your degree program’s transfer policy to see how many SNHU online course credits are transferable.

SNHU doesn't offer students free laptops, but you can purchase a laptop from any location/reseller and take advantage of some discounts from Dell and Apple. Laptops, monitors, mice, printers and accessories are also available at the SNHU online bookstore.

You will need to make sure you have access to a computer and the internet before the start of your first term. Specifically, here is what you’ll need to have for most degree programs:

  • A laptop or desktop computer with a Windows or Apple Operating system. 8GB RAM and 100GB storage.
  • Internet access — about 15 hours per week per undergraduate course. 5 MBPS download speed required.
  • Anti-virus software — your internet service provider may include this with your subscription.

IMPORTANT: Chromebooks or iPads cannot be primary devices
Chromebooks (Chrome OS) and iPads (iOS) do not meet the minimum requirements for coursework at SNHU. These offer limited functionality and do not work with some course technologies. They are not acceptable as the only device you use for coursework. While these devices are convenient and may be used for some course functions, they cannot be your primary device.
